Corps Electric
Hello, I am Mike Griggs the founder and heart and soul behind Corps Electric. With a background rooted in precision and dedication, I bring the discipline and commitment of a former Marine Helicopter mechanic to the field of the electrical trade.
Let me share a bit about the journey that led me to where I am today. Growing up in Crescent, Oklahoma, the spark of becoming an electrician was kindled in me around the age of twelve. Life, however, took an unexpected turn in 1985, during my senior year in high school when I made the decision to join The United States Marine Corps.
My time in the Marine Corps commenced in July 1985, where I spent the next thirteen weeks at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) San Diego, (going through oh my gosh what did I do) rigorous physical training and the ways and traditions of becoming a United Sates Marine. Looking back, I would not change a thing. The remainder of my enlistment was spent at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Tustin, California, where I worked as a flightline mechanic on the Sikorsky CH-53 Super Stallion, forming bonds and friendships with many great men. A few that still exist today.
After my honorable discharge, I like many at the end of their enlistment faced the challenges of reintegrating in the civilian workforce. Unsuccessful in acquiring suitable employment, I joined the Marine Reserves and retrained as a radio repairman at Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Communication Electronics School. (The Stumps) Still eagerly seeking that right job. As fate would have it, I open the classifieds of the daily paper to the technical and trades section and God could not have made it any clearer. This was the fuel that stoked that fire that was kindled in that twelve-year-old boy. Electricians were in high demand! I enrolled in Electrical Technologies at Metro Tech Vo-Tech, embarking on my career in the electrical field.
My journey has taken me through various experiences, from Moisant Electric of Oklahoma City, and Hayes Electric of Bethany where the skills of being a great electrician were imparted to me under the tutelage of many great individuals. Sometimes life throws you a curve ball. My family was outgrowing my income. In 1996 I made a transition, and went to work at Lucent Technologies, for the next five years, until they ushered us out and shut the doors. While at Lucent I got to learn on the job most phases of assembling telephony switching cabinets. In 2001 I returned to my electrical roots and went to work for one of my former journeyman electricians, Joe Henthorn, now Henthorn Electric.
Now armed with over two decades of hands-on experience and wisdom gained from mentors like Joe Henthorn, I’ve embarked on a new chapter. In June of 2021, I founded Corps Electric. As the leader of Corps Electric, I provide top-notch electrical services from Edmond to Mustang, Piedmont to Norman, and everywhere in between.
With more than 25 years of getting my hands dirty in residential and commercial electrical work, I’ve fine-tuned my skills to make sure things are safe, efficient, and just make sense. At Corps Electric we are not just here to fix stuff; we want to take your living and working spaces to a whole new level.
On a personal note, I am the husband of a beautiful wife and a father of six amazing adult children, and a grandfather to 13 wonderful grandchildren. There is never a dull moment. I also have the distinct honor of serving as a deacon at my church. When I hang up the tools, I enjoy spending time with the growing family, fishing, and riding my motorcycle.
At Corps Electric it’s more than just fixing things, it’s about the values instilled during my military service – integrity, precision, and commitment to excellence. When you choose Corps Electric you are not just hiring an electrician, you are enlisting a team dedicated to the safety, efficiency, and the futureproofing of your home or business. Plus, my experience serving as a deacon adds an extra sense of responsibility and care to every project.
